Professional Tool Reviews for Pros

If you're looking to get away from magnetic stud finders and shift to a whole stud electronic style, it's hard to argue with the performance and price of the Hart Professional 9-LED Stud Finder. It's accurate and easy to use. We can't ask for much more than that!

There are a lot of reasons you need to find a stud on a finished wall. No matter what project is on your list, the Hart Tools Professional 9-LED Stud Finder is an easy-to-use and accurate option.

Ask a professional about the stud finder he or she uses, and you’re bound to hear Franklin Sensors come up frequently. Hart uses Franklin technology for this model and that gives us a lot of confidence before even taking it out of the box.

The unit runs on a pair of AAA batteries (not included). The battery access is on the front and doesn’t require a screwdriver to open.

Once you have the batteries in, the operation is simple. Just press the Hart Professional Stud Finder flat against the wall, hold down the blue button in the center, and slide it along the wall. No-mar strips on the back prevent you from marking up the wall.

Pro Tip: Keep your hand and fingers away from the wall to avoid false detections.

When you come across a stud, you’ll see red LEDs mark the full width. A standard stud will light up 3 bars. There’s a notch in the middle of the finder to help you mark the center of the stud.

If you happen to come across live AC behind the drywall, yellow lightning bolt LEDs light up on both sides to warn you.

The sensors in this model are capable of detecting wood or metal studs up to 1 1/2 inches deep behind drywall. This type of stud finder isn’t reliable on plaster walls, though.

The Hart Professional Stud Finder is very similar to the professional models we use in both form and function. Where Hart has an advantage is in price. It’s just $26.84 at Walmart. You can order it online and many local stores have them in stock.

How does the Hart compare to the Franklin ProSensor 602 you listed in the Best Stud Finder Review 2021? Both are about $25. Thanks

its the same as a Franklin sensor stud finder only cheaper

Just put up crown molding in my family room & kitchen. Purchased one of these since my old Zircon was on it’s last leg. Very accurate, easy to use, &, as you point out, can’t beat the price.

Installed French cleats in a new hotel last month where the fire rated wallboard was inch thick (two layers). I was given a Lowe’s 50 dollar finder that barely worked so I tried a coworkers Hart unit. Way better and just 27 dollars.
